Himekaji x Lolita co*de ♡ Weekly Coordinate Challenge

31 de mayo de 2021

Hi, Gals! ♡ Welcome to another Weekly Coordinate Challenge. It’s been a while since I did my last co*de for this challenge so it’s time to catch up! The last time I did a súper not-me makeup I thought it would also be a good idea to do this prompt because today’s the day to not be me!

Create a coordinate inspired by another style you like

So I don’t know if I can say I like Lolita per se, but it’s the first J-Fashion I discovered when I was a teenager and I always had a huge respect for their community.  I think the Lolita community is the only J-Fashion that has lasted all these years and it’s even growing and growing and getting more gaijin designers each time. I wish we had something like that in the gal comm.  But I think in our case, our community became smaller with time. But always with one thing in mind: As long as there is at least one gal out there, Gyaru is going to be alive.

So for this challenge I decided to do a Himekaji look Lolita inspired. I don’t know if this is what Lolitas would call Otome, but I just did a co*de inspired by Lolita. I asked a friend of mine, Hiromin aka. Kumya Princess to check my outfit first and the items I have to feel I have a minimum of approval to not offend anybody (I’m also scared af of Lolitas).  And I tried to respect this bell shaped, add items with ruffles, I chose my longest Ank Rouge skirt with tulle and added long socks to not show that much skin and added a petit coat I already had, don't ask why.

Top & Skirt: Ank Rouge
Shoes: Taobao
Hair clip: Taobao
Petit: Custom made

I think the concept of this outfit is still Himekaji (a more modern one) but with a casual Lolita twist, because the current Himekaji has no shape at all and that’s something I really dislike.  The models look like all the clothes are too baggy or big for them and it’s uncomfortable to see. Specially on Liz Lisa. So I tried a Lolita shape. I also wanted a high contrast co*de so I decided to go with black socks and ivory shoes.

Ngl at the end I didn’t like the look hahaha.  I mean, I liked the co*de but I felt so not myself that I got really uncomfortable when I looked at myself on the mirror so I couldn’t even left my house to take pics like in previous co*des. Honestly I don’t feel good with clothes that are this big and modest, I don’t like to not show skin and look just pure and innocent. So this was an interesting experience I wouldn’t repeat. Lmao. But I feel I got to unblock another level in my fashion life and that makes me happy.  Maybe one day I’ll have the courage and the confidence to properly try Lolita. I think I’d like to try Gothic or Classic Lolita, but at the same time I think I’ll end up hating myself a little bit more.

And that’s it for today. Thanks for reading! I thought this would take me more time to do, but at the end I just made this post on my phone while I couldn’t sleep. So bye bye! And good night for me.
